With his award winning background in book retail and publishing, SoapBox MD John Schwartz is an accomplished book designer.
Book design remains John's abiding passion, in fact, rather oddly, it's one of his favorite ways to spend his spare time. So he keeps his hand in by designing for small publishers, often at discounted rates.
Book design is a craft requiring research, sensitivity, inspiration and meticulous attention to detail to bring the author's work to life. So, ideally, John likes to work with publishers and authors to design the whole book, inside and out, including the choice of materials and bindings. But he is also happy just doing covers or typesetting inner pages.
